September 12, US News and World Report released its annual guide, with Seton Hall continuing to be highly ranked among the top 10% of all schools and colleges designated as “national universities”. The last Report has seen major changes in the way the rankings are set up as well as changes in its methodology.
The “National Universities” category used in the US News and World Report The classification is derived from the list of Carnegie classifications. Seton Hall is designated as a “research-intensive” institution, placing it among the doctoral universities in the Carnegie classification, and thus one of the national universities of the US News and World Report rankings. Listed at No. 137 and tied with 13 other universities, Seton Hall is in the top third of all national universities.
Over the past few years, Seton Hall has repeatedly broken records for high school applications, enrollment, GPA, SAT, and ACT scores — all metrics that contribute to a school’s success. American News ranking. Seton Hall’s “peer ranking”, which measures the university’s assessment by top academics from other schools, was again “ranked” at 3.0, steadily increasing by 10%.

The US News and World Report The ranking is one of many that places Seton Hall among the top colleges in the nation. Seton Hall was again recognized more recently as one of the “Best Colleges in America” as well as one of the “Best Regional Colleges” by the Princeton Review; a “Best bang for your buck” by Silver magazine; and one Forbes “The best college in America.”
Guided by its strategic plan, “Reap Our Treasures”, the University has articulated and is implementing its bold vision for future success as well as its record fundraising for the year 2021-2022.
Seton Hall highly rated in rankings that measure results
Seton Hall consistently meets or exceeds rankings that measure student and alumni achievement, scoring in the Top 10 percent nationally in a 2022 Georgetown University Rankings which measured employment outcomes in the form of return on investment for undergraduate students across the United States
Additionally, in research conducted by PayScale Inc., Seton Hall was ranked among the top 12% of US colleges for mid-career salary ($103,800) of its alumni.
Separately, in 2019 (the most recent year the ranking was calculated), with an employment score of 92.55%, Seton Hall ranked first among all private colleges and universities in New Jersey in a ranking that used data from IPEDS and the US Department of Education. “College board map.”
Seton Hall among the nation’s most trusted universities
Seton Hall was recently recognized as one of the “most trusted universities” in a recent national survey conducted by Morning Consult, a business intelligence firm that has defined trust as the belief that an institution will do the right thing. Seton Hall ranked No. 36 among all universities nationally, sixth among Catholic universities nationally, and second only to Princeton in New Jersey.
Seton Hall Means Business: Top 25% of US News
The Stillman School of Business’ undergraduate program ranked 108 in the nation in the American News metric. In total, American News measured 516 business programs across the United States for its ranking, with Stillman ranking in the top 22% of all schools.
The Stillman School is among select programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) – the highest standard of achievement for business schools, achieved by only 5% of schools worldwide awarding business degrees at bachelor’s level or higher.
The Stillman School of Business rose to 39th in the nation in the Poets&Quants ranking of “Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2022” and was ranked the best business school in New Jersey for graduate experience.
In the Georgetown report, graduates of Seton Hall’s master’s in accounting programs were found to have the fifth-best return on investment (ROI) among all accounting programs in the United States, ranking graduate accounting programs in the United States. #1 school in New Jersey.
The Gerald P. Buccino ’63 Center for Leadership Development, the predecessor of the Buccino Leadership Institute, and based within the University’s Stillman School of Business, was rated the top leadership development certificate program in the nation by HR .com, five years after a row. The Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall has been named the 2022 recipient of the Outstanding Program Award by the Association of Leadership Educators (ALE).
Seton Hall College of Nursing: Top Ten Percent US News
The College of Nursing gained 25 points in American News ranking, placing it at 51 and ranking in the top 7% of programs nationally. Earlier this year, American News ranked Seton Hall’s online graduate nursing program as one of the top online graduate nursing programs in the country, ranking 15th in 2022, up from 27 the previous year and in the top 8% nationally .
